SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "OÙ TU VEUX" - Jolie Chérie

How did I survive a whole long year without at least one single by favourite French act Jolie Chérie remains a mystery... The last time we heard from the Parisian electro pop trio was December 2012 when the band was kind enough to premiere their "One, Two, Three" single here on my Carousel. Now Jolie Chérie are back with "Où Tu Veux" a surprising collaboration featuring Valli, a French singer popular back in the 1980's with her band Chagrin D'Amour. The single is what Jolie Chérie does best, a delicious crossover between perfect pop moment and oldskool flavoured club anthem with a pinch of mandatory "French Touch". "Où Tu Veux" is accompanied by a delectably old-fashioned and stylish black & white video directed by Jean Paul Routier. Voilà!

SHREM'S CLUB BIZARRE INTRODUCING: "APOCALIPSI" - Jansky feat. Defled

Jansky is an electronic duo from Palma, Mallorca whom I discovered in 2013 with their mysterious debut EP "Un Big Bang A La Gibrella". Jaume Reus and Laia MaLo are serving another intriguing slice of bizarre techno POP with "Apocalipsi", half whispered and half sung in Catalan just like their previous recordings. The track is announcing the arrival of their new LP "éSSER ElèCTRIC". It's throbbing, it's hypnotic, it's unsettling in an eerily seducing way. Electronic poetry made in Spain. It was bound to end up in my Club Bizarre.

The video was directed by Joan Guasch.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "COLOR DECAY" - Júníus Meyvant

First of all apologies for quite a long break from me caused by both lay-out changing malarkey and some technical glitches (hope you enjoy the new colours by the way) and the rather poor first two weeks of almost no interesting new sounds around. January blues? How about January folk? Straight from the genre I almost never explore on my carousel but this new Icelandic vocalist is pretty irresistible. Júníus Meyvant's lush "Color Decay" is as perfect as one can imagine a perfect song. Beautifully crafted melody, impeccable production and that wonderfully cosy old-fashioned vibe. Once again some captivating music from the land with the most talent per capita.

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "CHRISTINE" - Christine & The Queens

January has always been a month of exploring all those sounds, songs, artists, new acts and labels which have somehow slipped under my radar throughout the previous year. All this is happening while browsing multiple blogs, websites and music magazines and comparing their year-end rankings to mine. I must admit of all the tracks I missed out on in 2014, "Christine" by Christine & The Queens, a new sensation on the French Pop Scene who has just scored #1 "Album of the Year" title by the prestigious Les Inrockuptibles, is the one I simply can't get over. I'd file the track under the "Perfect Pop Song" label and put it right at the top of the pile of recent POP discoveries. Flawless on all levels, including the visual part with its enormously stylish video and sublime yet conspicuous choreography. French do it better! Effortlessly cool, think I might watched it a dozen times in a row during the weekend. I am officially hooked. The album "Chaleur Humaine" is out now! Voilà:

And then there was this fabulous live performance of the song too:

P.S. That's it I'm counting it towards my 2015 countdown, after all the video got released on 18th December...

CHOON OF THE DAY: "THE OTHER ONE" - Juce

UK's best girl band since the original line-up of the Sugababes, the charming trio Juce took my year-end charts by storm the last few weeks (#3 among Hottest Newcomers in 2014 + "(H)ours" among Top 20 Best Tracks of the Year & Top 20 Best Videos of the Year). They're welcoming 2015 with a brand new song "The Other One" - another pop gem infused with their signature 90's RNB & Dance vibes. This will be a big year for Georgia, Chalin & Cherish.
