The moments I manage to invite artists I admire the most to contribute something special and exclusive for my blog I cherish immensely. It's been a while since Sally Shapiro's Italo Disco-meets-Rave Party playlist back in November so I am even more delighted to present to you another "Perfect Party Playlist" compiled especially for SHREM'S CAROUSEL OF ÜBER NERDINESS. I first came across the enigmatic Poisonous Relationship on ECSTASY website, an underground house record label which is responsible for releasing some of the most stunning and unique dance records of the past few years the likes of "Light of Love" by The Miracles Club, "Lonely Sea" by Alexis Penney or "Elevate" by Finesse.

Poisonous Relationship is a velvet voiced artist, singer and writer named Jamie Crewe based in Glasgow. A man of many artistic talents whose sounds float between the planets of future R&B, house and electronica. This Sheffield born multi-gifted, self-proclaimed "hysterical songwriter" sings, produces, composes, remixes and revamps music (that Kelela rendition is out of this world!!!) quite like nobody else does. I have chosen Poisonous Relationship as one of Top 10 Hottest Newcomers in 2013 (even though it seems he's been busy making music for a few years at this stage) while his epic 10 minute long track "Men's Feelings" ended up at #6 in my annual countdown of Top 100 Best Tracks of the year. It is a real honour and joy to have you as a guest on my blog Jamie! As usual my January "Crème de la crème" chart is a mix of some brand new tracks, some which were released in December in the middle of the whole year-end mayhem and some which I have completely missed out on when they were initially released during the course of the previous year and I only stumbled upon them while browsing through various end-of-the-year rankings. CHOON OF THE DAY: "YOUR EYES" - Alexis Penney

Alexis Penney's debut record "Window" is out now with "Your Eyes" being chosen as the first single off it. The underground house vibe of the song seems to be a perfect continuation of Penney's artistic path and the fitting bridge between his cult in some circles "Lonely Sea" and these brand new recordings. The subtle yet distinctive production comes from the pair of ultra-talents: Nick Weiss of Teengirl Fantasy and Jamie Crewe aka Poisonous Relationship. Oh yeah and there's a free download of the song as well, generously given away by the always reliable ECSTASY below.

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "PRAYING FOR RAIN" - Alexis Blair Penney /// "NOBODY" - Poisonous Relationship

Jamie Crewe a.k.a. Poisonous Relationship, the artist behind "Men's Feelings" one of this year's best tracks to date (#1 on my Crème de la crème chart in May), assisted Alexis Blair Penney, the flamboyant star of Ecstasy Records, with writing and recording his long-anticipated debut album. "Window" is slated for release 6th August and as we read on the label's blog "contains pop melodies cast in a timeless sound that transcend genre by nodding equally to house, new wave and disco". The first teaser "Praying For Rain" confirms the genre-binding context of the upcoming album, balancing between early 80's post-punk electro, nu romantic, echoes of Bryan Ferry's "Bête Noire" and Annie Lennox's "Diva" with a peculiar almost oriental sounding intro. The song promises a thrilling debut which will hopefully also contain 2 of Alexis' previous excellent songs "Lonely Sea" and "Secret City". While we're anticipating the release of "Window" we can already enjoy Poisonous Relationship's one of a kind "Garden of Problems" filled with real underground gems like the meticulously crafted "Nobody", easily standing-out among the most unusual and unique recordings I heard in 2013 so far. These two played side-by-side prove what a groundbreaking, ultra-selective and exhilarating record label Ecstasy is. I can't praise them enough.

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "NIGHT & DAY" - Emotion II Emotion feat. Ryann /// "SECRET CITY" - Alexis Blair Penney

Last week I have received a cd edition of E C S T A S Y's first ever compilation (yes call me old-fashioned darling but I still much prefer the physical copies) and let me tell you no other collection of tunes got me so excited since "Été D'amour" back in 2005. I have been admiring the founders of E C S T A S Y - the wondrous Miracles Club for two years at this stage, it's one of their exquisite tracks "The Wheel" that announced the release of this vibrant mix of all shapes and colours of underground house music. The label is responsible for three out of top 20 best tracks in 2011 in my annual countdown, Alexis Blair Penney's "Lonely Sea", The Miracles Club's "I Can't Help It" and Finesse's "Elevate". This brand new delicious mélange of '15 new tracks from our friends and collaborators across the globe' as they state on their blog, goes down a total treat. Here are two of my favourites "Secret City" from the flamboyant Alexis Blair Penney and "Night & Day" from Emotion II Emotion a collaboration between Rafael Fauria (The ubiquitous Miracles Club again) and Avalon Kalin (Finesse). The compilation is out now via iTunes, Beatport and Juno. Put on your dancing shoes baby!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "MY LOVE GROWS IN THE DARK" - SSION

I am over the moon SSION's fantastic LP "Bent" will finally get the proper promotion and attention it so deserves. It was one of last year's top 10 best albums in my humble opinion. Now Cody Critcheloe states "this video will be a part of a larger narrative of videos for the album BENT". Happy Days!!!!! It's delightful too see Alexis Blair-Lonely Sea-Penney guest appearing here too. Another cheeky electro pop gem scored for SSION. Yeaaay!
