No one does R'N'B quite as futuristically as Logan and Zou from the flamboyant urban duo BC Kingdom. Following the sensational "Lock Up" released on Solange's label Saint Records last year, an attractive mélange of neo soul and electronica that ended up among Top 20 best tunes of 2013, we receive another electrifying contemporary R&B symphony "DWN4U / JEEPS". As the title and the song's ever-changing moods and unpredictable rhythms suggest, it's almost as if there actually were two tracks married together. The future looks bright for these talented and unique artists.
I have already been worshipping B.C. Kingdom's exquisite "Lock Up" as one of the best tracks released last month HERE. Now this sleekly produced piece of future r'n'b receives an equally sophisticated and stunning video treatment directed by Lane Stewart. "Lock Up" comes from Solange and Saint Record's "Saint Heron" compilation which also includes tracks by Kelela, Kingdom, Cassie, Jhené Aiko and others.
So thrilled to see B.C. Kingdom's new music on the horizon as I have been notoriously obsessed with their debut "B.C. Kingdom - EP" throughout the whole 2012. Now these flamboyant Los Angeles based "progressive, daring and thoughtful R&B, hip-hop and electronic music" connoisseurs, as they introduce themselves on their sleekly re-vamped website, are back with a luscious new single which is out 12th November via Solange Knowles' very own label "Saint Records". More of those independent, multi-talented future-soul artists please! Simply divine. I am gasping for more and I am delighted that Logan and Zou are currently working on their full length debut.

There'll be plenty of them between now and the beginning of January as it's time to combine, compile, compare, rank and score everything that happened in the course of 2012 in music. This chart is entirely dedicated to all the most groundbreaking and talented newcomers. The innovation, the finesse, the originality, the recklessness, the creativity. It's all here. It was a year of duo's and two rather fabulous ladies whose careers really picked up in 2012 after guest featuring on the very same album back in 2011... Have a look my darlings and please let me know who'd make your list of this year's most promising new acts in music.

M.I.A.'s protégés B.C. continue the promotion of their multi-eclectic EP "B.C. Kingdom" with a brand new video "The Melody". It's a truly dynamic mish-mash of kitsch, 1980's and an "avalanche" of Middle Eastern, Indian and African motives. The boys also offer an exclusive dj set mixed for the Opening Ceremony blog. To my surprise and delight they have included the sadly overlooked "Perfect Man" - my absolute favourite Destiny's Child track in it too. One of the most original and genre-bending music acts coming from the States at the moment if you ask me... Try not to fall for this melody... Impossible!
