CHOON OF THE DAY: "Gå" - Det lilla extra

Do you remember "En Enda Röst"? A fascinatingly dark piece of Swedish witch house that didn't quite sound like anything else in 2011? Well Det lilla extra, the enigmatic act from Umeå, has just posted another utterly magnificent piece composed around their very own recipe of mixing Balearic, dub and electronica. I feel bewitched. Head to the band's soundcloud for more of those lush sounds.

SHREM'S 2011 COUNTDOWN OF CHOONS - 100-91

2011 - definitely a year of incredible tunes! I can't remember when I was struggling so much with my end of the year ranking before... Ended up with 257 songs which I felt well deserved a spot among the best tracks and finally after days of debating I narrowed it down to the usual top 100. I'll be revealing it in 10 separate installments and as always any feedback, comments or perhaps even your own charts would make my über-nerdy heart sing. I'm very excited to finally share it with you all. Let's start the countdown...

100 - "The Third of the Storms" - Mike Simonetti feat. Sam Sparro - 8 minutes long Balearic sound odyssey with vocoderised Sam Sparro from the ever so creative ITALIANS DO IT BETTER label with this year's most edible of all album covers

99 "Mind" - Fatima feat. Floating Points - it was all about the collaborations this year, wasn't it? Miss Fatima dropped one of this year's most sophisticated urban EP's with a little help from Floating Points, this was my highlight of the entire "Follow You".

98 "Thirteen Times An Hour" - Isolée - deep house galore released exactly 10 years since Isolée's phenomenal debut single "Beau Mot Plage"...

97 "Tonight (Morgan Geist Remix)" - The KDMS - anthemic house gem, yet another superb single for Brighton's nu-disco queen Kathy Diamond. Morgan Geist delivers another epic remix too!

96 "I Want Her But I Don't Want Her" - Zahed Sultan - subtle dubtronica made in Kuwait popularised recently by Monsieur Stéphane-Hôtel Costes-Pompougnac

95 "Forevermore (Rough Mix by Ha-ze Factory)" - Andrew Butler & Shaun J. Wright - darker side of House music, released under Hercules & Love Affair's Andrew Butlers' independent label Mr.Intl
94 "Video Games" - Lana Del Rey - this year's most talked about and most blogged about diva, the saviour of chart music Miss Lana Del Rey aka Gangsta Nancy Sinatra...

93 "(We Stay) Up All Night" - Buraka Som Sistema feat. Blaya & Roses Gabor - Portugal's finest musical export with its infectious hybrid of Angolian kuduro, dancehall and electronica - pure energy!

92 "Gucci Gucci" - Kreayshawn - and it goes a little something like this "Gucci Gucci, Louis Louis, Fendi Fendi, Prada, the basic bitches wear that shit, so I don't even bother"

91 "En Enda Röst" - Det lilla extra - one of the most original and intriguing releases in 2011, Swedish murky answer to witch house:

SHREM'S LATE MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS... "En Enda Röst" - Det lilla extra

Det lilla extra sound like a mysterious bridge between the pioneers of the Swedish electronica scene The Knife and the new up-and-coming indie acts from Sverige - Museum of Bellas Artes and Nottee. It's dubby, it's trippy and it's utterly intriguing.
