PellyColo (ペリーコロ) is a Japanese dj from Tokyo whose sounds oscillate vibrantly between nu-disco, boogie and synth-pop. The geeky producer serves his music with a healthy dose of old-school vibes, delectable synthesisers, vocoders and contagiously enthusiastic melodies. "Miracle Circle" stood out immediately for me when I heard his "Temptation" EP for the first time. Out now via Bandcamp and iTunes.

Not quite sure how I missed this release back in July especially considering Towa Tei has a status of sort of electronic music genius in my books. Here he collaborates with Shiina Ringo - a Japanese singer-songwriter, music composer and music producer to another astonishing effect in his long list of excellent singles featuring female artists the likes of Kylie Minogue, Ayumi Tanabe, Lina Ohta, Miho Hatori or Bebel Gilberto. The track comes from his 8th studio album "Lucky". Simply delectable!
I have just realised it's been a long while since I shared some Far East Asian Pop which I have such a soft spot for. Well to catch up here are none less than three songs coming from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan respectively. Especially for those of you who love ludicrously over the top high budget videos, even if slightly trashy but undeniably catchy melodies and pure pop perfection Asian style.
I meant to post this a few months ago but totally forgot about it until today when I was in desperate need for something ultra-uplifting. When I look at this video I realise I have a long way to go transferring my own living room into a kingdom of kitsch. Only in Japan...
When this single was out back in 1998 it was my favourite song in the whole wide world for a while:-) No one does quirky pop productions quite like Jungle Dj Towa Towa as Towa Tei was once known while still with Deee Lite. Looking forward to listening to his brand new 6th LP "Sunny" coming up later on this year. This strange little song featured a Japanese super-model, Ayumi Tanabe, on vocals. It's sooo 90's!
I have already been trying 2 spread the word about this tacky little number made in Japan but perhaps this time with a little help from the video it will steal some more attention. I have almost mentioned it as one of my "guiltiest of pleasures" but then comparing it with the likes of Mistral or Amanda Lear I came to a conclusion Candy Bear Stupid! needs just a tad more of kitsch factor 2 be part of this rather sophisticated thread ;-) 曲を楽しむ
