CHOON OF THE DAY: "FIND MY LOVE" - Trulz & Robin feat. Ost

The always reliable Eskimo Recordings label has just treated us to an ultimate feast with the arrival of "The Orange Collection", the latest installment in their series of new compilations based around colours. The collection is literally packed with excellent and exclusive new tracks by Anoraak, Du Tonc and Marvin & Guy among others. Varying in genres and styles, all songs seem to have been intricately cherry-picked. "Find My Love" is particularly haunting, an 8 minute escapade into delectable deep house soundscapes from Trulz & Robin. I must admit this is the first time I am hearing about this Oslo based production pair but hoping for more. Yet another example of the ever-expanding and creatively thriving Norwegian house, nu disco and electronica scene.

SHREM'S CLUB BIZARRE INTRODUCING: "DAMN THAT VALLEY" - U.S. Girls

4AD have been pioneers in discovering unique musical talents for almost 4 decades at this stage. This British independent record label introduced me to Cocteau Twins and Gus Gus, two of my most beloved bands. Joining the extraordinary palette of their currently signed artists, the likes of Bon Iver, Ariel Pink, Grimes and Gang Gang Dance, is the mysterious U.S. Girls. Oscillating between bizarre pop and wonky dub with a solid dose of sweet cacophony and punk aesthetics, “Damn That Valley” easily finds its spot among this year’s most uncompromising and fascinating singles to date. You’ll either adore it immensely or it’ll annoy the hell out of you at first listen. Fashionably off-note and wondrously intense.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "INHALE EXHALE" - Nao

Echoing some Prince and New Power Generation vibes, Nao returns with "Inhale Exhale" taken from her latest EP "February 15" which is out now via Little Tokyo Recordings. Nao took my 2014 year-end charts by storm as I listed "So Good" among Top 10 Best EP's of the year, the artist herself as one of Top 10 Hottest Newcomers while both "Good Girl" and "So Good" ended up among my songs of the year. After seeing this very talented singer supporting Little Dragon in Dublin last November, I simply couldn't wait for more. "February 15" electrifies with 5 brand new compositions, rich melodies, slick production, distinctive vocals and natural charisma makes Nao one of the most proficient ambassadors of the current UK Soul & R&B scene.
