CHOON OF THE DAY: "UV" - Cinema [Video + Teaser]
I've placed Cinema's enthralling debut single "UV" at #2 of my Crème de la crème chart last month. The song remains one of my favourite tunes so far in 2013 with its cosmic medley of Moroder-esque space disco, lavish synths, Sébastien Tellier's drama, vintage electronica and the harmony of a perfect French chanson. Calypso Valois and Alexandre Chatelard are just about to release their first EP accompanied by the official video for the mesmerising "UV" and the enigmatic teaser below. Follow Cinema on Facebook!
SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "GHOST OF SKY (Remix)" - Steed Lord
My musical heroes, the unstoppable Steed Lord, the trio behind 2012 #1 album "The Prophecy pt. 1" have just graced us with another terrific single. I have to admit "Ghost Of Sky" wasn't my favourite song off their latest album, their own rendition of the track however stands out among their most accomplished works to date. Exotic Icelandic Deep Dark Disco sums this fantastic track up pretty accurately too. You can buy it now exclusively, before its official release (8th April), from the band's store. Absolutely Fabulous!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "NEVER MATTER" - Toro Y Moi /// "GRIND" - Les Sins
The 3rd video from Toro Y Moi's stupendous "Anything In Return" (still my album of 2013!) is just out. "Never Matter", filled with Bundick's signature modern funk sound, summery vibes and positive energy, is a rather tempting invitation to dance. If you're however not fully convinced yet, the second track by Les Sins will most certainly make you ditch this winter hibernation mood. "Chaz Bundick is at his yacht-worthy R&B best as Les Sins for Jiaolong label. On the deckside dancefloor, 'Grind' slydes in close, crooning autotuned vocals over well-oiled bass and freeky synths with a supremely sophisticated touch." This oldskool slice is a love at first listen. A double portion of sonic joy:

SHREM'S CLUB BIZARRE INTRODUCING: "HOME" - Austra
"Home" by Austra sounds like it has the very same odd potential to be turned into an absolute house anthem if approached by some clever dj, just like Moloko's album version of "Sing It Back" back in 1998 when remixed by Boris Dlugosch. I mean it's inevitable right? Am I going bananas or that piano echoes some big house records of the past. The single is a delectable teaser before Austra's "Olympia" gets released in mid June via Domino Records. Together with "Painful Like" which emerged in live version in August 2012 I'm guessing we may be up for a real treat in the shape of Toronto sextet's best work to date...

SHREM'S INSTITUTE OF LOST CLASSICS: "BLAME" + "CORCOVADO" - Everything But The Girl
Perhaps slightly controversially but completely subjectively speaking these two recordings are my absolute favourites in the entire catalogue of Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn. "Blame", co-produced by drum'n'bass hero J-Majik, was Everything But The Girl's 3rd single from their last studio album "Temperamental" while their exuberant cover of Antônio Carlos Jobim's "Corcovado", originally released on "RED HOT + RIO" compilation back in 2000, remains the duo's final single to date. Two unquestionably spectacular tracks but then again I've always had a very soft spot for EBTG going for the drum'n'bass and jungle sounds, no one ever made them so sublime and refined.

CHOONS OF THE DAY: "IOU" + "BETTER" - Kilo Kish
I've discovered this talented lady first thanks to one of my favourite Radio presenters out there Mr Tom-Audio Sunshine Show-Lowe. It was the captivating slice of modern urban sounds full of soul and nu jazz vibes packed into 3 minutes of utter beauty that was "Navy" back in 2012. Now Kilo Kish is back with a whole new set of those delicious experimental R'N'B grooves available on her Soundcloud in the shape of a star-studded mixtape. "IOU" and "Better" caught my attention and my always-hungry-for-new-sounds ears immediately. Brooklyn's finest!!!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "GETO BOYS" /// "THE POSSESSED" - Glass Candy
This ultra-rare 12" by the awe inspiring Glass Candy is a fascinating mélange of three songs. Samples taken from The Geto Boys 1991 Hit "Mind Playing Tricks On Me" and Isaac Hayes' "Hung Up On My Baby" from 1974 are mixed to an astonishing effect. Ida No sings Sugar Boy Crawford's "Iko Iko" over the beat. One of those super-precious rarities in the vibrant catalogue of Italians Do It Better. Johnny Jewel just made it available for download on his Soundcloud. Such a treasure! Oh yeah and we also have another vintage masterpiece by Alberto Rossini to accompany Glass Candy's latest single "The Possessed" taken from the label's most anticipated "After Dark 2" compilation.

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "BLACK BELT" /// "SENSITIVE NEW AGE GUY" - John Grant
John Grant's 2nd solo album is out and it has a few ultimate gems on it. The first single, "Pale Green Ghosts", was already a very promising signal announcing the appetising collaboration between Grant and one of Iceland's most talented producers, Gus Gus' Biggi Veira. The following two tracks are the winners from the very first listen to this surprising record marrying electronica and folk to an astonishing effect. The sound of all three songs mentioned is so uncannily Gus Gus, it will also serve as a much needed bridge between Gus Gus' albums for all those hungry fans like myself.

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "MOTORWAY" - Little Boots
I have to be honest I've never really gotten into Little Boots despite the clear approval or even fascination for Miss Victoria Christina Hesketh among my muso friends around me. It all changed however with the arrival of Little Boots' excellent collaborative single with the mighty Simian Mobile Disco called "Shake". I cherish this delectable dance moment passionately until today. Now it's time for "Motorway" a synth-pop little gem announcing the release of her 2nd LP "Nocturnes" out this May. A dreamy piece of pop music reminded me of some of the early St Etienne material. Grab a free copy of it now on Little Boots' official website!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "Zippin'" - Jay Shepheard
I heard Jay Shepheard's debut LP for the first time last week and instantly fell in love with this piano-led uplifting piece of oldskool house. The album is actually full of dancefloor jewels. The teaser below the video should be convincing enough to purchase the whole lot now on Beatport, Juno or iTunes. Smashing!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "SUNSET" - Compuphonic feat. Marques Toliver + Dj T & Aeroplane Remixes
"8 months and nearly 3,000,000 views since Belgian producer Compuphonic uploaded, 'Sunset' his collaboration with Marques Toliver to YouTube with just a simple logo, the track finally has a proper video, courtesy of Lisbon based film producers Salon Alpin." Now this ubiquitous piece of hedonistic house also gets a second single release packed with remix treasures. Here's "Sunset" in all its visual and sonic glory with the now famous summer anthem of a remix by Dj T. and a phenomenal oldskool rendition juggling between French Touch vibes, 1980's pop and Nu Disco by the one and only Aeroplane, Belgium's best dance export.

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "THINGS OF THE PAST" - Nicholas feat. Stee Downes + NYC Club Mix
A lot of excellent house music surfaced in 2013 so far. Almost every week treated us to a real dancefloor gem. This time around the track which blew me away the most is this juicy piece of house by Nicholas, Italian dj based in Perugia who invited Stee Downes to provide vocals for this sizzling hot club anthem in the making. Out now via 4Lux. 10 out of 10! J'adorrrrrre...

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "CLOSER" - Lulu James
Quite fittingly around the International Women's Day I have discovered a whole bunch of new female musical talents, ladies who I shall follow closely from now on. The enigmatic Empress Of, the soulful MOKO, the oneiric Rina Sawayama and now the fabulous Lulu James whose previous single "Be Safe" I must admit didn't blow my mind. Her latest offering, "Closer" seduced me instantly with its powerful yet understated production, the ultra-stylish video, 1990's flashbacks and the undeniably strong melody. I realise I tend to get excited and hyper over new music very easily but this song seriously is among the best ones I heard all year so far. An utter beauty on so many levels. The EP is out 5th April!

SHREM'S LIST OBSESSION: Top 10 Favourite Azari & III Remixes
I've become obsessed with Azari & III since the very first time I heard "Reckless (With Your Love)" back in 2009. The Toronto house quartet is back now with the remix album of their self-titled debut featuring arch remixery by Tiga, Jori Hulkkonen, Art Department, Disclosure, and Nicolas Jaar. You can stream it exclusively at Noisey. I thought it could be a great opportunity to look into their very own mixing talents in the vibrant variety of artists for whom they submitted remixes so far. Here's top 10 made of those ones I cherish the most. After all it's Saturday y'all!
