CHOON OF THE DAY: "SURE THING" - Klyne

Nick Klein and Ferdous Dehzad form Eindhoven based duo Klyne. I have named this Dutch duo among the 10 hottest newcomers in 2015, beaten only by Abra to the Number 1 spot on the list. Ever since their scrumptious debut single "Closer" Klyne have been working exhaustively on crafting their own signature sound, a stimulating mixture of synth pop, neo soul and electronica which sits somewhere comfortably between Hot Chip, Jamie Woon, Jungle and Jamie Lidell while still remaining true to itself. Following a stream of first-rate singles and sometimes even better b-sides, Klyne are ready to reveal their self-titled debut album which drops 30 June via Because Music. "Sure Thing" is the latest teaser from the electronic pop duo and I dare to say it's their catchiest if not simply their greatest offering yet.

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "TEARDROPS IN THE BOX" - Kiddy Smile

Following the ultimate underground house anthem "Let a B!tch Know", the unparalleled Kiddy Smile and Defected Records are ready to conquer those clubs and ballrooms once again. The French club kid, vogueing maestro and one of the hottest house producers of the moment Kiddy Smile drops "Teardrops In The Box", another nostalgic aural escapade to the heydays of 80's & 90's house music. Retro beats, Chicago House grooves and a generous dose of sass. Think Azari & III, Fingers Inc., Adonis and Shaun J Wright with Alinka. Paris is still burning!

Video directed by Kamel Bentot.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "LET MY BABY STAY" - Amandla Stenberg

The actress-turned-singer Amandla Stenberg has just dropped a sublime slice of electronic neo soul "Let My Baby Stay" - her debut single taken from the soundtrack to "Everything Everything", in which she stars. The song is a cover version of Mac DeMarco's indie folk track. Miss Stenberg is serving some Solange, FKA Twigs and Kelela vibes with this effortlessly cool number...

SHREM'S VINTAGE CORNER: "SOMBRAS" - Blanca Rosa Gil

I used to regularly share old-fashioned, dusted-off vintage gems from all over the world here... Hugely impressed with Paddy Breathnach's "Viva" which I finally watched last weekend, I have indulged myself once again in the world of Latin American boleros, something I've always had a weakness for, this time concentrating mainly on the Cuban divas. I invite you back to my Vintage Corner thread with Blanca Rosa Gil's heavenly melodic "Sombras" used in the soundtrack of the aforementioned Spanish-language Irish drama. I found the note below to learn more about the singer behind "Sombras", a song I have completely fallen in love this weekend... Nothing quite compares to a pure, nostalgic, elegant, flawless melody like this...

"La Dueña Y Señora Del Bolero. This Cuban torch-singer has one of those rare voices that's at once tremendously seductive and frightening. Wearing her heart on her sleeve, Blanca Rosa Gil sings romantic boleros with quiet, quivering passion. She also lets loose half-screams of spurned outrage, depending on which is appropriate for the song. Making her mark in Cuban cabarets in the '50s, Gil performed with a Mambo orchestra that played melodramatic songs with great horn arrangements. Before the Cuban revolution she relocated to Mexico and never returned to her homeland."

CHOON OF THE DAY: "IF YOU SEE ME" - Sink Ya Teeth

Mix up a little bit of new wave with a generous dose of disco-punk, add a pinch of electroclash and we arrive at Sink Ya Teeth's addictive debut single "If You See Me". James Murphy-meets-Nancy Whang-meets-Bush Tetras-meets-Peaches! The minimal keyboards, the hypnotising hooks and occasional beats make this an unparalleled treat for all the genre-bending alternative musos in the house. It's queer, it's delectably seductive and totally unique. I've had this Norwich duo's first single on repeat for a couple of days and I must warn you the more you listen to it the more addictive it becomes.

The super fun low-budget video was directed by Joanna Millington and "If You See Me" is out now via 1965 Records.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "Cœur croisé" - Polo & Pan

French duo Polo & Pan, responsible for this year's most essential remix for Corine's "Pluie Fine", are announcing the release of their debut album "Caravelle" with the irresistible "Cœur croisé". The single is an adorable, kitsch-infused slice of French Pop following the melodic patterns and the vibrant eclecticism of Polo & Pan's previous hit "Canopée". It's just the kind of sweet sound I crave when the summer season is just around the corner. "Caravelle" drops 19th May via Ekler'O'Shock and Hamburger Records.

The fittingly fabulous video for "Cœur croisé" was directed by Pablo Maestres.

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "HAPPY HOUSE" /// "SHINE BY NIGHT" [feat. Snuff Crew] - Hard Ton

The unstoppable Italian duo Hard Ton - club wizards of all sounds underground, queer, acid & house are releasing their first full-length album "Party Hard Ton" despite gracing the dancefloors of the world with incalculable number of stellar singles, EP's, collaborations and remixes since 2009. Hard Ton join electro forces with Spiller, Snuff Crew, Mirror People, Morales & Sames, Adriano Canzian, ROTCIV, Space Echo, Jonny Woo among others while inviting some of their virtual and real world friends to participate in making the videos for the songs. I am extremely honoured and proud to have made the final short-list with a task to prepare the low-key home-made "dance-around-the-living-room-like-there's-no-tomorrow" kind of video for the impossibly catchy, luscious, 90's flavoured club moment "Happy House". The other video starring REVERSO is promoting the energy-fuelled slice of effervescent acid house "Shine By Night".

Get your CD copy of "Party Hard Ton" on Bandcamp now.
