SHREM'S LATE MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS... "FUN GIRL" + "IN THE HEAT" - Jessica 6

The fabulous Nomi Ruiz and her brand new act Jessica 6 just released some of this year's funkiest tunes with their debut outing "See The Light". It's an inspiring and impressive sonic journey through disco, r'n'b, funk and electronica. This fabulously joyous album made me put away Gus Gus' sensational "Arabian Horse" for a while for the first time since its release last week. I can't recommend Jessica 6's album enough, it's flamboyant, it's sexy, it's edgy and it's camp - all of it together! What a collection of quality tunes, you know "White Horse" and "Prisoner Of Love" with Antony Hegarty already, here's a reminder of their debut single "Fun Girl" along with my absolutely favourite song from the album "In The Heat".

I love the way Washed Out have such an instantly recognisable sound. This is another jewel of a tune from my most beloved lo-fi act in this part of the galaxy. I have been praising this talented young man 3 times already on my carousel, here's the proof!

Watch out Alice Glass, think I found myself a brand new girl crush. I mean how cute is this little pixie? I have to admit I don't know much about Grimes, in fact I have discovered them (her?) only a few hours ago (muchissimas gracias Marinita :-). "Vanessa" is a pure delight of a song. I'm extremely impressed with the promo video. Pure freshness!

SHREM'S CLUB BIZARRE INTRODUCING "FASCINATION" by Nicolette

So the first taster of the long anticipated Nicolette's 4th album is up for grabs on I-tunes. "Fascination" has all the ingredients of a perfect Nicolette song. Multi-complex beautifully crafted wall-of-sound production, wonderfully chaotic beats, levels and levels of haunting vocals (you simply can't go wrong with SUCH a unique voice!) and surprisingly catchy chorus. Really really looking forward to hearing more from Nicolette in the upcoming months!

When this single was out back in 1998 it was my favourite song in the whole wide world for a while:-) No one does quirky pop productions quite like Jungle Dj Towa Towa as Towa Tei was once known while still with Deee Lite. Looking forward to listening to his brand new 6th LP "Sunny" coming up later on this year. This strange little song featured a Japanese super-model, Ayumi Tanabe, on vocals. It's sooo 90's!

I have never been too fond of Calvin Harris whom I actually consider quite repetitive and arrogant. Kelis, on the other hand, I always had a soft spot for. This collaboartion is a natural follow up to Kelis' clubland orientated 5th album "Fleshtone". Pure mainstream I know, quite catchy though and what a hilarious video too!

When cover versions outdo the original songs... This was St Etienne's dazzling debut single literally days before the band was joined by their current main vocalist Sarah Cracknell.
