SHREM'S ACADEMY OF ALL TIME BEST SINGLES: "ROCK WITH U" - Janet Jackson

This Janet Jackson single was one of my songs of the year back in 2008. It was also one of her 38 singles that scored top 30 on Billboard Dance Chart. Thought it'd be appropriate to post one of my top Janet tracks just 24 hours before I get to see her live for the first time in my life at the Royal Albert Hall.

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "MANIC" - Azari & III

Azari & III aka currently the best dance act on the planet have just released their 5th excellent single in a row. After "Hungry for the Power", "Indigo", "Into The Night" and "Reckless" (number one song of 2010 in my ranking) there comes a time for another sensational house record "Manic". It's hypnotising, irresistibly dancey and soooo sexy! The currently touring boys promise 12" and remixes to be available from 8th August. It's from one of the albums of the year in the making, I can feel it... Enjoy!

SHREM'S GUILTIEST OF PLEASURES... VOL. 22: "L.O.V.E. Banana" - João Brasil feat. Lovefoxxx + Daniel Haaksman Remix

Ridiculous I know. Some of this year's cringiest lyrics too and still I'm quite addicted to this little piece of Brazilian kitsch. Well it's the best thing Lovefoxxx was involved in since CSS's debut album... Pity it's not in Portuguese though...

SHREM'S INSTITUTE OF LOST CLASSICS PRESENTS: "EVERYBODY" by Madonna

This is how it all started. Autumn 1982. Madonna's very first single. There's a very juicy bonus below the official video, La Ciccone's first EVER live performance of "Everybody". The track has such a fierce 80's disco sound. Madonna's debut album still stands among my favourite albums of all times. Everybody, come on dance & sing, everybody get up & do your thing! Happy Pride everyone!

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "FANTASY" - Breakbot feat. Ruckazoid + Jacques Renault Remix

This is such a pure joy tune! It sort of reminds of both Michael & Janet Jackson's 1980's hey-days... Yet again French do IT better! Juicy summer anthem in the making!

SHREM'S LATE MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS... "Ambulances" - Ladytron

Ladytron's brand new single "Ambulances" is out today. After ultra-catchy "Ace Of Hz" and mesmerising "White Elephant" it's a third taster from their forthcoming 5th studio album "Gravity the Seducer". Slight change of mood again, "Ambulances" is way darker and mysterious than any of their previous singles in quite some time. I'm about to burst with excitement thinking about their new LP.

SHREM'S INSTITUTE OF LOST CLASSICS PRESENTS: "FIRE" by Lizzy Mercier Descloux

The year was 1979 and Mademoiselle Lizzy Mercier Descloux has just released this gritty mutant disco punk track as her debut single. One of those obscure european records that lived up to cult status all through the years. C'est formidable!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "LOLA (GING DANGA)" /// "EL TIGERASO" - Maluca

Dominican answer to M.I.A., señorita Maluca is back in action. "Lola" is the first taste of her upcoming EP. I couldn't resist and had to remind you all of the song that introduced me to the wonderfully brazen world of Maluca's electro merengue beats. "El Tigeraso" still sounds as fresh and innovative as the very first time I heard and danced to it. Miss Maluca is surrounded by strictly cool characters Diplo, Rusko, Dillon Francis, Oliver Twizt... For all updates check out her bold blog La Maluca Mala.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "B 4 SURE" - Charlie Song

What a delectable little underground piece of dance music. I definitely know the main sample from somewhere, it drives me crazy I can't name it yet. Anyhow this comes from Charlie Song's dreamy EP "Threee" available now via Overland Shark who release their independent treasures digitally and on cassettes! Love it!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "Hyperballad/Pluto live in Paris" - Björk /// "Freak" - LFO

The energy. The ecstasy. The genius. The exuberance. The phenomenal Björk. That version of the cult "Hyperballad" from Volta tour, mash-ed up with LFO's "Freak" can quite possibly be one of the most clever and astonishing ideas that both Miss Guðmundsdóttir and Mark Bell ever came up with together. This live performance in cathartic!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "LIGHT OF LOVE (Cut Copy Re-vision)" - The Miracles Club + Neurotic Drum Band Remix

It doesn't happen that often musicians decide to shoot the video for the remix version of their tracks as opposed to the original tune. The Miracles Club must have been seriously digging this Cut Copy mix of their flamboyant "Light of Love". You can't beat a good oldfashioned black and white video with a bit of voguing. Absolutely brilliant!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "Tango el Amal" - Nour Al Houda - نور الهدى - تانجو الأمل /// "Tango" - Soapkills

Lebanese singer and actress Nour al-Houda, recorded more than 100 songs during a career that spanned more than 60 years. I couldn't find the info on the time of the release of this rare piece of Arabic tango but I'm guessing it goes as back as late 1940's. The second track is the absolutely phenomenal and enigmatic rendition of the song by Lebanese Underground's finest duo Yasmine Hamdan and Zeid Hamdan vel Soapkills. They used samples of the legendary Mohamed Abdelwahab too. What a feast for Orient loving ears like mine :-)

SHREM'S LATE MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS... "FEBER" - Familjen feat. Ninsun Poli

Johan T Karlsson aka Familjen makes the juiciest of beats! This collaboration with Ninsun Poli was a b-side to their fantastic single "Det Snurrar I Min Skalle" back in 2007. I have only discovered it about an hour ago. This is where it all started and blossomed with the pair teaming up again on Familjen's euphoric "Mänskligheten" last year with the amazing "Vinter I April" and "Mitt bästa". No other country in Europe in the past few years scored so many good points on the synth-pop field as Sweden...

SHREM'S INSTITUTE OF LOST CLASSICS PRESENTS: "CIRCLES" by Adam F

This always makes me wanna dance! It hasn't lost any of its charm since the initial release back in 1997. From Adam F's debut album that also included his enchanting collaboration with Tracey Thorn.
