SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "BACK TOGETHER" - Annie [Video]

Anne's sensational "A&R" EP is out and I have been raving about it already earlier on this week HERE. Now the atmosphere around this release is even more euphoric with the arrival of the official video for the ultra-catchy "Back Together", wittily flavoured with some reminiscences of the early 90's club chart TV shows. Norway's #1 synth-pop export big time!

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "DJ WAKE UP" - Jolie Chérie

Parisian super-trio Jolie Chérie return with a sonic explosion of pure joy synth-laden electro pop anthem in the making. Etienne de Champfleury, Mélina Duval and Samir Alliche come back with their possibly catchiest and most irresistible single to date which will make you want to dance pretty much anywhere you decide to press that "play" button. Following the superb stream of highly addictive tunes: "Insomnie", "Star" and "No Matter What" Jolie Chérie tease us with yet another mega-track before more details on their debut album gets finally revealed. The track's dropping 13th August via Opus Label. I'm a massive fan! What an instant hit!!!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "THE LOVE" - Adhe Arrio

Daytime disco is how Adhe Arrio charmingly (and accurately!) describes his own sound. One may have noticed this slightly mysterious Indonesian dj and producer's name first among the remixes submitted for the likes of Chromeo, Phoenix or Breakbot. His latest single "The Love" sounds just like I imagine Bali, where he's based, to be: warm, sunny, chilled-out and refreshing.

And if you're discovering the enigmatic Adhe Arrio like myself, only now here's his previous single "Kandara Girl":

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "A&R EP" - Annie

The list of Richard X's ingenious productional work is endless and impressively versatile. From M.I.A. to Pet Shop Boys, from Róisín Murphy to Tiga, from Goldfrapp to Kelis... But perhaps his most fruitful collaborative works were those with the Norwegian saviour of quality pop music, Annie. Mr X is responsible for a few of Miss Strand's most epic tracks from her vibrant back catalogue such as "Chewing Gum", "Me Plus One", "Anthonio" or "Songs Remind Me of You". This brand new joint-effort between the pair comes in a shape of this year's most stellar of all dance and pop releases. "A&R" swept me off my feet with its impossible-to-resist melodies, meticulous arrangements (INVISIBLE !!!!!!!!), 1990's reminiscences, old-school club vibes and Annie's very own, astonishingly convincing recipe for pure pop perfection. Annie and Richard X have proven again to be an unbeatable dream team coming up with heavenly good tunes to an equal delight of both fussy music critics and electro pop devouring fanbase. I literally can't stop listening to these songs, thinking, they are quite possibly Annie's strongest material to date. The EP is out today digitally and it's worth every penny of its price. 12" to follow late August. A truly delectable time for all the "Annie-mals" like myself.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "Vōs-Sākō-Rv" - Lindstrøm + Future Feelings Remixs

Lindstrøm's nu-disco odyssey "Smalhans" was one of the most impressive dance EP's released last year. 9 months after its debuts we're treated to a cute video accompanying one of the 6 excellent and complicatedly titled tracks: "Vōs-Sākō-Rv". European nu-disco at its best!

SHREM'S INSTITUTE OF LOST CLASSICS: "TELL HIM" - McKay

I discovered this beautiful soul song exactly 10 years ago on some random compilation I don't even remember the title of at this stage. The girl goes by the name McKay and was at that time already a member of the acid jazz crew Brooklyn Funk Essential. Stephanie McKay had her debut released via Go!Beat which explains Portishead's Geoff Barrow co-producing this single. Pretty much the whole album became a "lost classic" but this magnificent track, alongside "Loving You" which I literally couln't find anywhere in the whole internet, I cherish with particular passion until today. When trip-hop meets soul...

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "PRAYING FOR RAIN" - Alexis Blair Penney /// "NOBODY" - Poisonous Relationship

Jamie Crewe a.k.a. Poisonous Relationship, the artist behind "Men's Feelings" one of this year's best tracks to date (#1 on my Crème de la crème chart in May), assisted Alexis Blair Penney, the flamboyant star of Ecstasy Records, with writing and recording his long-anticipated debut album. "Window" is slated for release 6th August and as we read on the label's blog "contains pop melodies cast in a timeless sound that transcend genre by nodding equally to house, new wave and disco". The first teaser "Praying For Rain" confirms the genre-binding context of the upcoming album, balancing between early 80's post-punk electro, nu romantic, echoes of Bryan Ferry's "Bête Noire" and Annie Lennox's "Diva" with a peculiar almost oriental sounding intro. The song promises a thrilling debut which will hopefully also contain 2 of Alexis' previous excellent songs "Lonely Sea" and "Secret City". While we're anticipating the release of "Window" we can already enjoy Poisonous Relationship's one of a kind "Garden of Problems" filled with real underground gems like the meticulously crafted "Nobody", easily standing-out among the most unusual and unique recordings I heard in 2013 so far. These two played side-by-side prove what a groundbreaking, ultra-selective and exhilarating record label Ecstasy is. I can't praise them enough.

I've got some juicy beats for you today. If you're into the ever so growing UK Funky scene and you happened to miss Boy Kid Cloud's release from last week, you're in for a real treat. This ace track stands out among the most sensational garage records in 2013. The single's out via Inspected.

SHREM'S CLUB BIZARRE INTRODUCING: "Efféminé" - Katerine

Shrem's Club Bizarre thread was made for eccentric artists like Philippe Katerine. The French singer extraordinaire returns with an uncontrollable explosion of disco, electro and kitsch produced by one of the most talented French producers out there, SebastiAn. "Efféminé" is the 2nd teaser taken from his upcoming record "Magnum" scheduled for the release this October. It's a kooky and cacophonous sonic journey that lies somewhere between the over the top theatricality of Sébastien Tellier, camp disco vibes of Amanda Lear or Belle Époque and French House anthems of the 90's. It's all wrapped-up to a strangely appealing effect. My song of the week big time. Outrageous in the most positive way!

CHOONS OF THE DAY: "AMORE SELVAGGIO" + "BACIAMI" - Marli Blu & Marco Moschino

What a joy it was to discover Marli Blu & Marco Moschino last Monday when hunting for exciting new releases all over the internet. As I am an avid Italo Disco Revival enthusiast, bumping into such authentic retro sounds made by current artists is a rare occasion. Mark Du Mosch & Marlijn Van De Kerkhof, the duo behind "Amore Selvaggio" and "Baciami", both aptly sung in Italian, is based in Rotterdam. A summer bomb of a release indeed. The EP is out now via Bordello a Parigi.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "ALL YOU'RE WAITING FOR" - Classixx feat. Nancy Whang

Classixx's fabulous collaboration with the one and only Miss Nancy Whang was on heavy rotation here for almost 2 months at this stage but now the obsession with this jewel of a song grows even more with the arrival of the official video for it. "All You're Waiting For" simply is all you're hoping for in a summer anthem. The song's available on Classixx's "Hanging Gardens" already and will drop separately as a single with remixes on 23rd July. What a smashing track!

SHREM'S LATE MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS: "HANDLE IT" - MeLo-X

I rarely copy the official press releases when sharing new music with you guys but this one just says it all about this fantastic new offering from MeLo-X. "Remixing archetypal visual concepts, we take a journey with sonic creator, MeLo-X, through space and time. Paying homage to Sci-Fi films and classics by Jean-Luc Godard, "Handle It" combines the vernacular of Hip Hop and La Nouvelle Vague to take the artist's vision to a new form of expression." You can download the track for free below the video.

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "DREW" - Goldfrapp

Just when I thought I couldn't possibly get more excited about Goldfrapp's upcoming 6th studio album "Tales Of Us"...  The first taste of the new album is the melancholic string-laden ballad "Drew" which echoes Goldfrapp's atmospheric debut "Felt Mountain". Alison's on top of her vocal game again and the song haunts you instantly with its exuberant production and elegant melody. "Drew" is not only the first track you'll hear from the album, but also the first part of the beautiful film that Lisa Gunning has directed to accompany "Tales Of Us", which will be shown in cinemas later this year. The album drops 9th September and you can pre-order it now digitally, on CD, Vinyl or as an exquisite Deluxe Box Set edition HERE.
