SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "AGAPE" /// "INDUS" - Dead Can Dance

I am still blown-away after seeing Dead Can Dance live for the first time last Sunday on their final of European tour dates, here in Dublin. It was like a fairytale. I am also yet to find appropriate words to describe it... Just like with Kraftwerk a few years ago it was a particular unexpected treat of admiring live one of those musical acts never in my wildest dreams I thought I could ever catch on stage... The 4AD legends gave a magnificent, ornate, eponymous performance of their very own kind, the exuberant mix of Oriental, Greek, medieval, gothic and celtic sounds created an astonishing atmosphere and with the theatre filled with die-hard DCD fans it was a truly magical show. Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry were both at the top of their vocal game too. "The Ubiquitous Mr.lovegrove" from my beloved "Into the Labyrinth" was a highlight just as the other 4 (!!!) encores! A concert to remember big time... Great sharing this moment with some fellow-muso friends too... Here's the magnificent "Agape" from their latest album "Anastasis" and the hypnotising "Indus" from "Spiritchaser", one of the most beautiful recordings of the Australian legends.

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "RELEASE ME" - Hercules & Love Affair

I've always been very fond of the "Dj-Kicks" compilations. It's such a treat to receive a dj mix by one of your music heroes with an exclusive brand new track. This time around we welcome Andrew Butler and his Hercules & Love Affair crew who follow the likes of Nicolette, The Juan MacLean, Hot Chip, Erlend Øye, Chromeo, Annie or Four Tet in this spectacular and now considered cult series of mixtapes. And what a fabulous house treasure we receive in the shape of the nu disco champion's exclusive new track "Release Me" with echoes from my beloved "Showing Out" by Mel & Kim... I hope the song heralds the arrival of the band's 3rd LP...

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "DARKEST NIGHT" - Moullinex feat. Iwona Skwarek /// "STARS" - Rebeka

Lisbon's finest dj export - Moullinex has just released his debut album "Flora" packed with house and synth-pop gems. "Darkest Night" featuring Rebeka's vocalist Iwona Skwarek is an immediate winner on the album with its Balearic lush vibe, luscious melody and Iwona's spectacular vocals. Good time to remind ourselves of Rebeka's "Stars" which dropped via Discotexas 6 months ago. Next to Kamp! they certainly are among the most promising acts to come out of Poland this year.

What a magical mish-mash of urban beats, serpentined vocals, synth-pop production with future r'n'b twist. SWW stands for Sarah Williams White. This truly hypnotic treasure of a song is a title track from Sarah's latest EP. Fascinatingly eclectic and immensely enjoyable.

SHREM'S LIST OBSESSION: Top 10 Favourite Brandy songs

I thought the release of Brandy's long-anticipated 6th album "Two Eleven" could be a rather splendid opportunity to revisit her entire catalogue again and dedicate another one of my nerdy lists to the princess of R'N'B I have been so very fond of since her debut single "I Wanna Be Down" back in 1994. 18 recording years at the mere age of 33 is impressive already even without the whole spectacular collection of the genre-binding production and sensational vocal acrobatics of so many of her tracks! So here it is, my personal selection of Brandy's most precious songs in her kaleidoscopic discography:

10 "Right Here (Departed)" from "Human"

09 "Learn The Hard Way" from "Never Say Never"

08 "Come As You Are" from "Afrodisiac"

07 "Where Are You Now" from "Batman Forever" soundtrack

06 "Music" from "Two Eleven"

05 "Baby" from "Brandy"

04 "U Don't Know Me (Like U Used To)" from "Never Say Never"

03 "What About Us?" from "Full Moon"

02 "Anybody" from "Full Moon"

01 "Best Friend" from "Brandy"

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "GEISHA" - Plaitum /// "FINESHRINE" - Purity Ring

Let me take you for a journey into the dreamy soundscapes of Purity Ring and Plaitum today. These two mesmerising tunes randomly played next to each other the other day from my iTunes library and blew me away. Almost as if they additionally complimented each other. Have a listen for yourself...

CHOON OF THE DAY: "STARS" - Roses Gabor

I have been utterly excited about this tune since the first time I heard this urban diva is about to release her first solo single. After collaborating with such a diverse bunch of musicians (Buraka Som Sistema's explosion of electro kuduro "We Stay Up All Night", SBTRKT's groovy "Pharaohs" or Greenmoney's "Into You" opening my top 40 of 2011, to name just a few) Roses Gabor is dropping her long anticipated "Stars" via Toddla T's Girls Music. As we read in the official press release "'Stars' is a song for clubs and night bus journeys alike- both contemplative and energetic. The atmospheric and emotive intro gives way to a rumbling bassline and off kilter drum programming. Roses voice is a perfect fit for the warm synths and moody beats which she shakes up with her feisty chopped up vocals." It's one of the most original singles I heard all year and accompanied by this charmingly kitschy video it surely secured a safe spot among my top tunes at the moment. This is as cool as it gets!!! And this lady is one to be watched carefully in the upcoming months.

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "SAME WAY I FEEL" [live] - Midnight Magic /// "DANCER (live)" [Gino Soccio Cover] - Escort

I've got two sensational live tracks by two biggest heroes on the disco reinventing scene at the moment. I have been continuously praising both Midnight Magic and Escort for the past few years. They're both based in Brooklyn. They both had an astonishing run of excellent singles and EP's. They are both blessed to feature two incredibly talented and charismatic female vocalists: Tiffany Roth and Adeline Michèle. Finally, both bands are about to drop their brand new albums. Midnight Magic's debut album "Walking The Midnight Streets" is definitely the most anticipated record in 2012 in my books, roll on 14th November! "Same Way I Feel" serves as a very delicious appetiser before we get to indulge in the whole record. Huge expectations! "As for the fabulous Escort, this 17 piece disco orchestra is about to treat us to a vibrant collection of remixes from their self-titled first album, with mixes from Greg Wilson, JKriv, Max Essa and Ewan Pearson among others. Here they are covering Gino Soccio's cult record "Dancer" in a rather spectacular way. This will be such a discolicious winter time!
