SHREM'S CLUB BIZARRE INTRODUCING: "WUT" - Le1f

LE1F. Underground. Urban. Ultramodern. Unique.

   Dark York by LE1F

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "SUPER FUTURE" /// "TROPICAL WINTER" - Actually

If you're digging kitsch, Italo Disco and electro as much as me, I might have found a perfect album for you. Wet Look's singer Actually Huizenga, has just released a luscious sonic feast of all sounds flamboyant, camp and electro-chic. Visually verging on the edge of soft porn, Actually brings back all the most obscure 1980's analog disco sounds and twists them accordingly to her own secret raunchy recipe to make them all sound more current than majority of pop music today. I am in absolute awe. One of the best albums I heard in 2012 so far.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "SPECIAL DELIVERY LOVE" - Hi-Fashion

It's a pure pleasure to see the flamboyant Hi-Fashion delivering another joyous old-school dancefloor number. With echoes of 1990's house and Grace Jones imagery it is an explosion of pure fun sounds and visuals! In a better world colourful bands like them would be snatching number ones one after another. Have a look:

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "GO HARD (LA.LA.LA) - Kreayshawn

Remember "Gucci Gucci"? The omnipresent tongue'n'cheek hip-hop belter by the foul-mouthed Kreayshawn, which divided the opinions of the whole blogosphere? Well she's back with another electrifying recording, this time produced by Boys Noize and Siriusmo. "Go Hard" will be as haunting as its predecessor.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "HEAR ME NOW" - Steed Lord

Just when I thought I couldn't possibly get any more excited about Steed Lord's upcoming new LP, the Icelandic trio's brand new single "Hear Me Now" emerged with its fabulously enigmatic atmosphere and productional wizardry. Miss Kali gives another astonishing vocal performance. It's one of the most anticipated records to be released in 2012 for me. Be prepared for a thrilling sonic journey into the synth heavens.

SHREM'S GUILTIEST OF PLEASURES... VOL. 31: "I LOVE YOU" - 2NE1

I've got such a soft spot for K-Pop... I know this song has a slightly euro-trashy production and the most cliché title possible, I still can't get it out of my head and stop humming it over and over again. Korean Pop has recently been my personal antidote to the American Pop scene which I couldn't be less interested in these days... Almost 7 million views in just about two weeks!

SHREM'S INSTITUTE OF LOST CLASSICS: "ONCE IN A LIFETIME GROOVE" - New Edition

This 1986 single by New Edition is a pure bliss. Recorded after Bobby Brown's departure and before Johnny Gill's arrival when this R'N'B briefly worked as a quartet. Groovy indeed.

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "ALIVE" - Todda T feat. Shola Ama + Sticky Remix

Toddla T's fruitful collaboration with Shola Ama brings out another anthem-about-to-happen. The pair responsible for one of this year's biggest summer festival anthems - "Take It Back", return with a song that shapes to even surpass its predecessor. "Alive" is an instant garage classic. Shola Ama proves again that the UK Funky scene is where she's at her most comfortable and with her legacy of UK Garage anthems she was involved in so far, one could easily crown her (alongside Ms. Dynamite) as the genre's first lady. In addition Fact Magazine has just published this juicy mix by Sticky which combines delicate drum'n'bass-esque beats with the anthemic oldskool house loops to an astonishing summer dancefloor-ready effect. The single's out on 13th August via Ninja Tune. CHOON!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "COME FOR ME" [feat. Gustaph] /// "STANDING UP FOR LOVE" [feat. Starving yet Full] - Moonlight Matters

I've had Moonlight Matters' vintage pop moment with Azari & III's Starving Yet Full on repeat for a few weeks at this stage. The inescapable 1980's vibe of the track with its gritty saxophone solo is a rare sonic moment on the electronic scene of 2012. Now the title track from their EP - "Come For Me" receives a luminous video treatment and brings even more sweet 80's memories.

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "TURN UP THE RADIO" - Madonna

This is just a perfect treat a week before Madonna hits Ireland during her MDNA Tour. It was evident "Turn Up The Radio" was going to be one of the singles from the Queen of Pop's latest LP. Loving the Polaroid quality of the video in the sunny Italia. YEAH!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "IT'S YOU (Ron Basejam Remix)" - The White Lamp

The White Lamp's summery "It's You" with its velvet vocals and soulful vibe is as good as it gets in the current deep house department. The man responsible for this lush remix is Mr Ron Basejam, the man behind Crazy P. Sleek!

SHREM'S CLUB BIZARRE INTRODUCING: "SLIPPIN' AROUND" + Aérea Negrot Remix - Zhala

A slice of plain bizarre to kick-start the weekend. The enigmatic Zhala and her twisted mish-mash of witch house and electronica. Oh yeah and there's a very special treat available from today a video for the remix of the song made by the extraordinary Aérea Negrot.

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "DISTANCE" - Kelis

I'm so glad Kelis continues to explore European dance & electronica rather than American r'n'b which was her initial direction. This slick track was produced by Skream one of the guys responsible for bringing dubstep to masses. Ultra-catchy!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "A SUDDEN SICKNESS" - Nils Bech /// "AUTOMATIC LOVER" - Jay Jay Johanson

"Nils Bech is a Norwegian singer and performance artist who explores the tensions between art and dance, contemporary and pop music" as he states on his Facebook page. "A Sudden Sickness" blew me away instantly this morning with its peculiar mélange of Erlend Øye style vocals and Jay Jay Johanson's melancholy. The latter one is the artist behind the second video. "Automatic Lover" is a blast from the disco past, Johanson's vibrant rendition of Dee D. Jackson's 1978 euro disco classic. The cover comes from his most accomplished album in my opinion - "Antenna" surrounded by the flamboyant androgenous imagery. Those two Nordic tracks strangely compliment each other.

SHREM'S LIST OBSESSION: Top 10 Favourite Björk Rarities

Björk has a solid spot among the artists I admire the most as you might have noticed by now... I was aware of The Sugarcubes but it wasn't until the moment I heard "Come To Me" from "Debut" for the very first time when I fell in love with her so deeply and obsessively. I've been a passionate devotee, an admirer and a completist collector of her solo material ever since. Through all of her vibrant and ever so versatile career so far, Miss Guðmundsdóttir treated us fans, to numerous fantastic hidden gems and treasures in the shape of generously distributed b-sides, bewildering collaborations and genre-redefining remixes. CHOON OF THE DAY: "BELISPEAK" - Purity Ring

Purity Ring are one of the latest addition to the incredible family of 4AD. The record label responsible for releasing music by some of my favourite bands in the past (Cocteau Twins, Gus Gus, Stereolab) is now home for the innovative sounds of Grimes, Gang Gang Band, Twin Shadow and now also Purity Ring. The latter one blew me away with this mesmerising piece of electronica last year, now available with this enigmatic video announcing their debut album set for release in 2 weeks time! Yet another cutting-edge act from the epicentre of all sounds cool - Canada.

SHREM'S CLUB BIZARRE INTRODUCING: "HER FANTASY" - Matthew Dear + Tornado Wallace Remix

Matthew Dear's "Asa Breed" still stands among my favourite electronica albums of all time. None of his material since that epic record came anywhere close its pure brilliance. None until the arrival of his latest single "Her Fantasy" which quite simply is a magnificent piece of music.

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "FINALLY" - Niewinni Czarodzieje feat. Novika /// "MUCHOMORY" - Maria Peszek

Last week I had an ultimate pleasure to participate in selecting some tracks for Tom Lowe's Audio Sunshine Show's special edition, entirely dedicated to the music of my homeland, Poland. It's been a pure fun session of cherry-picking eclectic sounds from the past 50 years in the history of Polish phonography. The result of it is a 2 hours long journey through Polish jazz, hip-hop and house with a bunch of nu jazz, klezmer and pure oddities thrown in for the good measure. You can listen to the show for free for the next month on RTE Pulse. If you're looking for the playlist head to Tom's Facebook. I was particularly delighted to see two following tunes making the final cut of the show. Enjoy:

SHREM'S WORLDLY DELIGHTS: "Taki Rari" - Yma Sumac + "Estaba Escrito" - Monna Bell

I've got two delicious vintage Latin recordings for you today. First up it's the legendary Peruvian soprano Yma Sumac and her exotic take-on mambo with "Taki Rari". Following this sonic otherworldliness we have a Chilean queen of merengue Miss Monna Bell and her "Estaba Escrito" a song maestro Pedro Almodovar used for his feature debut "Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del montón".
