SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "LOLA (Ging Danga)" -Maluca /// "Sin Oficio" - Systema Solar

Such an energy bomb of a Latin flavoured combo today. First up we have NYC based Dominican response to M.I.A. - Maluca and her brand new video "Lola". It's brazen, it's cheeky and it's so cleverly produced - an urban anthem in the making! Then we have Colombian electro-cumbia collective Systema Solar introduced to be my my dear muso friend Alva whom I consider an absolute expert on Latin american sounds, particularly Colombian and Brazilian grooves. Now you have to agree those two sound rather delicious back to back, don't they? Los ritmos fantasticos!!!

SHREM'S LATE MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS... "Video Games" - Lana Del Rey

Such a powerful song, shiver-inducing strings arrangement, haunting melody and that voice... The very first time I heard it I felt I was somehow experiencing something very important. All I can say for now is that this girl is going to be biiiiig!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "INSIDE OUT" - Shake Aletti + "MOMMA'S PLACE (Shake Aletti Remix)" - Róisín Murphy

Some more 1980's sounds of now. Also any opportunity to throw something by Róisín Murphy to spice things up a bit is always a good idea. Synthesisers galore!

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "IT'S A BUBBLE (with Sean Delear & Turbotito)" /// "MAXIMUS (with Sam Sparro)" - Beni

I can't wait for Beni's new debut album to get released. The tracklisting looks very promising with Mattie Sefer, Sam Sparro and Nomi Ruiz among other guest appearances. Here's the first single "It's a bubble" accompanied by a vogueing galore video. It's a good opportunity to play Beni's epic "Maximus" one more time too as it just is one of the coolest videos for the past few years. And if you're big on Sam Sparro check out his brand new collaboration with Mike Simonetti which thanks to the power of Twitter almost instantly became my number 1 most viewed post of the week.

SHREM'S BIGGIES BUT GOODIES BASKET: "GUCCI GUCCI" - Kreayshawn

And it goes a little something like this: "Gucci, Gucci, Louis, Louis, Fendi, Fendi, Prada / Basic bitches wear that shit so I don’t even bother." Ridiculously catchy and potentially quite annoying, this one is going to be biiiiig! 12 million hits on youtube says it all, the single's out on 9th September.

CHOON OF THE DAY: "ADD THIS SONG (live @ Nasa)" - Gus Gus

20 minutes of electronic soundscapes performed live @ Nasa, Reykjavík. "Add This Song" was one of my songs of the year in 2009 and hasn't lost any of its magic ever since, what an intense and exquisitely crafted sonic journey. Keep checking Gus Gus Facebook Page for their admirably generous Freaky Friday Giveaways.

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "A LONG TIME (Chromeo Remix)" - Mayer Hawthorne /// "When the Night Falls" - Chromeo feat. Solange (Official Video)

The final single from Chromeo's "Business Casual" got a hilarious video treatment. And Miss Solange Knowles herself appeared too! Also on the menu today we have P-Thugg and Dave 1's delicious re-fit of Mayer Hawthorne's new track. Chromeo-oh oh-oh!

SHREM'S WORLDLY DELIGHTS: "CAIRO CAIRO" - Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra feat. Natacha Atlas + "Taalet" - Natacha Atlas

A hypnotising piece of world funk by Shawn Lee featuring the legendary Natacha Atlas. As a bonus there's a juicy remix of Miss Atlas' "Taalet (Zab Spencer Remix)" which is my number one pick from her latest record "Mounqaliba".

SHREM'S VINTAGE CORNER: "Na drugim brzegu tęczy" - Breakout

This was always my mum's favourite band, their gritty sound was quite innovative and alternative in comparison with Polish mainstream music back in the 1960's. Mira Kubasińska remained for years one of the most charismatic and uncompromised Polish female vocalists. The sax intro is to die for... What a timeless gem...

CHOON OF THE DAY: "DOUBLE OR NOTHING" - The Swiss

Swiss disco made in Australia anyone? You might remember The Swiss for 2 excellent remixes I posted before for Annie and Tyson. This time they're back with their own discolicious production "Double or Nothing". The track gets released in September via Modular. Pump up the volume guys!

CHOON OF THE DAY: "MIRAGE" - Ladytron

Ladytron are absolutely spoiling us this year. Here's another taste of their upcoming 5th studio album "Gravity the Seducer", it's hard to believe we were already graced with 4 different songs before the album is even released. I'm particularly loving this one I must admit, haunting melody, Helen and Mira's otherworldly vocals and exquisitely multi-layered production. Bravo again to the Liverpool quartet.

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "BEDTIME STORY (Orbital Remix)" /// "SECRET GARDEN" - Madonna

Two underrated and sadly forgotten Madonna tracks that remain some of my favourite moments in her entire catalogue. Both tracks show a bit of an edgier, darker side to the Queen of Pop. First up Orbital providing one of the most memorable remixes in her discography and then we have "Secret Garden" - "Erotica"'s closing track still solidly among my 10 favourite La Ciccone songs of all times. Happy Birthday Madonna!

SHREM'S LATE MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS... "Un Canto a Mi Tierra" + "Mas Pan (Dj Day Remix)" - Quantic and his Combo Barbaro feat. Nidia Gongora

My I-tunes count tells me I played this Colombian gem 50 times already, somehow I forgot to post it here until now... How much flavour does this track have?

SHREM'S DOUBLE TROUBLE: "DON'T TELL ME" - Freekwency feat. Penny Shum /// "HANGIN' ON A STRING (CONTEMPLATING)" - Loose Ends

1980's soul jams double bill. You're probably already quite familiar with London based Loose Ends and their biggest selling single "Hangin' On a String". As for the Freekwency track I am still in disbelief that it wasn't actually made back in the 80's... The sound is uncanny. This 2010 minimal groove tune is out now digitally pretty much everywhere! All the reinventing of oldschool vibes makes me a very happy Shrem.

SHREM'S ACADEMY OF ALL TIME BEST SINGLES: "ALWAYS THERE" - Incognito feat. Jocelyn Brown

RELEASE DATE: 1991
CHART PEAK POSITION: #6 on UK Chart

SHREM'S FUTURE ANTHEMS: "Ton goût des garçons (Jolie Cherie remix)" - Vii

How absolutely brilliant does this track sound? An ultra summer anthem in the making me thinks! Every minute of it just oozes pure dancefloor joy. Parisian collective Jolie Chérie just always delivers whether it's with their very own fantastic take on modern disco or with groovy remixes like the one they did for Black Strobe recently for their underground classic "Me and Madonna" or the one below... Looking forward to hearing more from Mélina, Etienne and Samir in the future!
